I only have 1,200 miles on my 08 DX, but even just earlier today I got on the bike after lunch and the gauge had gone from 1/3 full to bone dry. The stock V Rod motor had a forged crankshaft, forged pistons and really good connecting rods. It is a really well put together motor and can go much higher than the 9000 rpm rev limiter, but it hits the peak torque at around 7000 - 7500 and there is not much reason to run it past 9000, you are better off shiftiing to the next gear to stay in the power band.
